BTS of Spring Inspiration – A Model’s Perspective
This year’s student-driven fashion show Spring Inspiration featured a diverse array of designers from Jönköping, showcasing everything from elegant evening gowns to trendy secondhand fashion. The true highlight of the show was undeniably Spring Inspiration’s very own designs crafted to embody the overall theme of the event, the four elements.
The show was a huge success, leaving one lingering question: What goes on behind the scenes to make such a remarkable event possible? Offering just a glimpse into the backstage hustle, EDIT shares some insights from a model’s perspective.
Being a model at Spring Inspiration presents an incredible opportunity to be part of something truly special and to connect with amazing people from diverse backgrounds. That’s why I applied in the first place. After the casting, receiving a positive reply via email meant I would walk in front of hundreds of people at the fashion show. It was a super exciting, yet of course, nerve-racking prospect. Part of the whole experience were weekly model practices focused on getting comfortable with posing in front of others, practicing the runway order, and having fittings with the designers.
The day prior to the fashion show was all about familiarizing ourselves with the venue and having our initial rehearsal with the clothes designated for the runway. It was truly amazing seeing the event coming together and realizing how much effort all members of the Spring Inspiration team put into organizing every aspect of the show. Let me assure you: The event was not only highly professional for the audience but equally so for us models. This became even more evident on the day of the show when we were pampered by incredible stylists for hair and makeup, and went through our final rehearsal.
There was a moment when the day of the show felt distant, but time flew by remarkably fast. Throughout all the practices and rehearsals, we built friendships and enjoyed ourselves, exchanging compliments and conversation. In the blink of an eye, the moment arrived when we found ourselves backstage, hair and makeup perfectly done, waiting for the show to begin. Some of us were more nervous than others. Our design manager said:
“Take all the nervousness you feel right now and channel it into excitement the moment you step onto that runway.”
And that turned out to be the best advice she could have given because all we could feel during the show was exactly that. Focused solely on the present, we functioned flawlessly. The atmosphere was fantastic. Cheers filled the air not only from the audience but also backstage, where we hyped each other up with such positive energy that it was truly indescribable.
The afterparty served as the perfect finale, bringing everyone involved in the show together to celebrate its success and honor the exceptional individuals who made it all possible.
