Hot chocolate – but make it even hotter!
Have you ever tried to spice up your hot chocolate or are you, like me, mixing store-bought chocolate powder with some milk or water? If so, I’ve found the perfect hot chocolate recipe that we all need to try this winter to make the festive season as cozy as possible.
The recipe is highly inspired by one from Vogue Scandinavia but adapted in regards to student-friendliness – easy to make and still delicious!
What you will need:
6 dl milk
2 tbsp cocoa powder (if not sweetened, add as much sugar as you like)
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp cayenne pepper
50 g dark chocolate
1 pinch of sea salt
How you proceed:
1. Combine milk, cocoa powder (and sugar), sea salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper in a saucepan, and let it simmer over low heat for approximately three minutes. Meanwhile, cut the chocolate into small pieces.
2. Take the saucepan off the heat and incorporate the dark chocolate, stirring until it melts and the mixture achieves a smooth consistency.
3. Pour the spicy hot chocolate into cups and garnish with whatever you like. I recommend a touch of cocoa and cinnamon powder.
I hope that spiced-up hot chocolate warms up your hands and hearts in the coming days and helps you get through the exams and into the Christmas mood.
