Jönköping may be over 1500km from The City of Light, but in a few weeks all JU students get to experience a Parisian ball, right here in Sweden. Every year the JSA Ball Committee organises two balls, one Summer Ball and one Winter Banquet. Both of last year’s events were a huge hit and now they have come together once again to organise another beautiful Winter Banquet.
This year’s theme was revealed just last week: A Night in Paris. The Ball Committee tells EDIT that this ball will be a night just as exciting as the previous years with an extra touch of France and a romantic atmosphere, both in the decorations and the entertainment. One thing that will definitely enhance the romantic atmosphere is the impressive Hall of Mirrors at the Elite Hotel where this year’s Winter Banquet will take place. This beautiful venue has sparkling chandeliers hanging from its high ceilings, the perfect backdrop to feel like a princess for the night.
What can you expect?
On November 21st you will be able to travel all the way to Paris for 895kr. That’s quite a lot of money for a night out on a student budget, but the JSA Ball Committee tells us that the Winter Banquet is more than just a party at a fancy venue. A three course dinner with paired drinks will be served to the guests while toastmasters will be entertaining and hosting interactive games throughout the evening. On top of that there will also be professional entertainers that bring a lot of energy and take the night to the next level. The ball is not over after dinner, it will be followed by a DJ bringing the perfect vibes for a big afterparty. After the Night in Paris Winter Banquet you will not only go home with a new unique patch, but also (and more importantly) with amazing new memories.
What do you wear to a ball?
Of course a bright ovve full of patches doesn’t really fit into the picture of a fancy ball, so for this event you can leave your ovve at home and go all out on your outfit. The Winter Banquet is a more fancy and elegant event than any of the other events this year and the dress code consists of long dresses and suits.
If you don’t already have a beautiful dress or suit at home, I would recommend you to go through the closet of a friend or take a look at that section in the thrift store you normally always skip: the dresses. At first glance it may look like a selection of the worst dresses of the last 20 years, but there always are some hidden gems!
How do you buy a ticket?
Ticket sales are today, October 14th, and to keep it mysterious the committee will share the location and time of the sales on their Instagram a few hours before they start. Make sure to check out their account (@ballcommitteejsa) if you want a ticket, because the only way to get a ticket is meeting them today. To buy a ticket you need to make sure you have Hitract downloaded and you are logged in. You should also prepare a list of allergies if you have any and give up two people you would like to be sitting next to during the banquet. Every student can buy 2 tickets, but if you’re buying a ticket for a friend you should prepare all this information for them as well and make sure you know their phone number.
The project managers of the Ball Committee’s favorite part of the night is seeing all the students come together and have a wonderful evening filled with laughter, singing, and dancing. You can be a part of this wonderful night too, so if you still have an empty spot in your agenda on November 21st, you now know what to write down. Au revoir!
