Congratulations on making it halfway through the fall semester! With just an estimated 45 business days to Christmas break it’s our last stretch! Although it may be easy to focus on the upcoming holiday and stress about the impending exams, there are a bunch of exciting things happening on campus between now and then and I thought I’d share a few of them with you so you could make the most of the remainder of this semester. So without further adieu, in no specific order here are some fun things happening to hold us over until Christmas break:
JSA Business trips
JSA has officially opened their applications for their “secret destination” fall trip which is planned to take place between 25-30/11. There are a limited number of around 30-40 free spots that work on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the past students from all around campus have had the opportunity to travel with JSA to cities like Dubai, Amsterdam and most recently, Zagreb. If you’re interested in learning about different business sectors and making connections in them while exploring a new city and making new friends I would highly recommend hopping over to JSA Business trip’s instagram @jsa_businesstrips and applying through the link in their bio.
Winter Banquet
If you want an excuse to get all dressed up and live out your Disney fairytale dreams, the Winter Banquet may be just the thing for you! The end of the year banquet is a formal ball event that will take place at Elite Stora Hotellet where the evening will be full of good food, great company and premium entertainment. Ticket sales started on 15/10 and the event will be held in November.
“Do What Matters” course
For 6 Tuesday afternoons from 5/11-10/12 JU students have the opportunity through the school to take part in a course that teaches strategies on dealing with stress and emotions and overall life. The response from previous course goers has been super positive and it could definitely be something worth looking into. The last date for application is 20/10 which can be done through the JU website.
Cybersecurity Day
Science Park extends an open invitation to their Cybersecurity Day on 23/10. Here we get the opportunity to talk to experts in the field and pose questions surrounding curiosities and concerns. The event will be held in Swedish and will consist of lectures as well as an educational workshop. Last registration day is 21/10 on the JU website.
Workshop: Get Started with LinkedIn
Speaking of workshops, on 29/10 from 12:15-13.00 there will be a beginner workshop for anyone who would like to build their profile on LinkedIn and get started. During this time you’d have the opportunity to learn about what LinkedIn is, how it works and what it is people look for when on LinkedIn in order to tailor your own application to receive the best results. There are limited spots and you can apply through the JU website.
Spring Inspiration
Spring Inspiration is the largest student driven fashion show in all of Scandinavia, it is a bi-annual event that celebrates students’ passion and talent within the fashion world. If you’ve dreamt of sitting in the crowd of prestigious fashion shows during New York and Paris Fashion Week I’d day Spring Inspiration is a great place to start. The theme release is on 21/11 and the vibes and inspiration that will undoubtedly fill the room is more than worth a visit.
AKA and Firebowl halloween
What’s a “everything that’s going on” post without an AKA/Firebowl mention? It’s time to get all cute and/or spooky to go dance your butt off! Halloween week AKA will be one for the books followed by Firebowl on Halloween night. My best advice to you for that is to get your costume ready, drink all your water and sleep as much as you can leading up to it, it’s gonna be a busy week!
Edit’s Halloween Movie Night
And last but not least, in case you didn’t already know, your friendly neighbourhood Edit affiliates will be bringing you an exclusive halloween movie night experience on 1/11.
