You can feel it in the air. The air is cold and crisp and filled with expectations. It’s a feeling that everything can happen – almost like Tinkerbell has sprayed magic dust over the setting. It’s time for Bröstgalan 2020.
Balloons, glitter and pennants is the first thing you see when you enter the venue. The tables are decorated with pink tablecloths, pink ribbon decorations (the symbol for breast cancer) and of course, hand sanitizers. Alicia Jerketeg and Carolina Grennvall are the toastmasters of Cellskapet and two of the people responsible for the event, they comment on the event like this.
– We are so excited to be the first to open Akademien! We have to enjoy it while it lasts. Because of the situation with Covid-19 we don’t know for how long it will be open.
The excitement increases when the auction finally begins. The bidding starts at a small price and the tension rises when the bidding gets more heated. In total, 51 items from various sponsors will be auctioned off before the end of the night. A preparty with Cellskapet is auctioned off for 2000 SEK and Shot-golf with HI-Life rises to the impressive price of 3000 SEK. Everyone opens their heart and wallet to support the cause of breast cancer.
The event is quite different from previous years. The guests are arriving one company at a time to avoid crowding and are instructed to be seated at their table during the whole evening. The spexmaster of Cellskapet Lennart Kikas comments it like this.
– The safety regulations are our top priority this year, we really hope that this event will go smoothly and that the guests are adapting to the new guidelines. If this new concept is successful, we will be able to have more events like this in the future.
A live performance is also something that is planned for the guests during the evening, the local band Live in Color are going to perform. Their private gig to be performed at someone’s home was also the one that made the most money in the auction – 3600 SEK.
– We were supposed to be here last year but unfortunately, we were prevented. Although that makes us even more excited to be here this year! We really want to do everything we can to help the cause of breast cancer, which is why we are auctioning off this private gig and we also have a fundraising campaign on our own.
The event shows that everyone is working together against breast cancer.
